sound systems, places that are not much more than upmarket
bars with music, and other, more down-to-earth places to
dance, playing a more interesting selection of music to
a younger crowd, with the new centri sociali offering an
innovative alternative to the mainstream scene, usually
on a "pay what you can" basis. Whichever you prefer, all
tend to open and close late. Some charge a heavy entrance
fee, from L10,000 to L20,000, the more spectacular places
as much as L35,000 to L40,000 - though these often include
